Whitewater paddling is a risky outdoor sport. BRV is not responsible for any individual’s decision to participate in a trip, or for his or her decision to run any river or section of a river.

Please Note:

• We welcome new paddlers, guests, and out-of-town boaters. To participate in a BRV outing, contact a trip coordinator or see the Contact Us page to get in touch.
  
  
• BRV members receive a roster that contact information for the entire club, The Voyageur newsletter, and periodic email messages about late-breaking trips.
  
  
• The list of scheduled trips below remains a work in progress and reflects mostly weekend trips. Most trips are ad hoc and announced via the BRV email list.
  You must communicate directly with the trip coordinator before participating on a BRV paddling trip. He or she will inform you about logistics, etc.
  
  
• Trip leaders are volunteers and retain the right to deny participation to non BRV members or those whose skills, experience or gear they suspect may be insufficient to safely participate.

  Many thanks to Charlie Duffey for leading swift water rescue, kayaking, and other paddling practice instruction sessions and workouts for area canoe clubs.
  
  
• For mid-week trips, contact the Thursday Paddlers, an informal group of DC area boaters that was led many years by Steve Ettinger, who passed away in 2013. They paddle from March/April to October/November, "whenever water and weather conditions are suitable.”
  To request being added to their email list, contact Alf Cooley (703-442-7935). He and Dick Pierce, Ron Knipling, Tim Tilson, and Barb Brown team up to coordinate a trip or two each week.
